Gifted Resource Progress Reports At the end of each marking period, gifted students in grades K-5 will receive a progress report noting their performance in the standards for our program for that marking period. Please keep these progress reports at home for your reference. No signature is required.
Grades for Middle School Gifted Connections At the middle grades, we no longer call the pullout program Resource. It is an Achievement Period (AP) class like Art, Music, PE, and so on; therefore, students will receive a grade on their regular report card based on their performance in this class. Our curriculum focus in Gifted Connections is based on the Gifted Standards through interdisciplinary units of instruction that focus on Reading or ELA. Critical thinking, creative thinking, logical thinking and mathematical thinking are also encouraged through a variety of activities.
Gifted Education Continuation Guidelines Satisfactory Performance – Regular Classroom - See the attachment above
Satisfactory Performance – Gifted Resource Classes Satisfactory performance in gifted resource classes shall be based on a satisfactory average on the gifted education progress reports. Termination - If the goals are not met before or at the end of the probationary period gifted services will be discontinued. A conference will be conducted with the parents where they will be asked to sign verification that they understand that the student is being terminated from gifted services. Probationary Period Incidence A student will not be placed on probation more than one time in an instructional level – primary (K-2) and intermediate (3-5) and middle grades (6-8). The student will move to inactive if this occurs. The ultimate goal is to assist gifted education students who may be having difficulty in the regular classroom and/or the gifted program.
